Arranging a burial

STEPS IN SUMMARY:
1) Purchase a lot, if you don't already have one.  Call the cemetery office to make an appointment or request a map with photos.  Think about if you need more than one lot for family members and what kind of memorial marker you would like.  If you already have a lot(s) then you can just call the funeral home of your choice.

2) Call a funeral home, or a couple of funeral homes, to see about their availability and prices.  Choose one and from that point, the funeral home can be in contact with Wildwood about burial dates and details.  Wildwood is always available to answer any questions that you have.

LOGISTICS:
A funeral home needs to be present at the time of a full body burial.  A full body burial requires transit permit, and if possible, a death certificate.  Funeral Homes are set up to provide these services on a family's behalf and funeral homes offer a variety of services for families to choose from.  At Wildwood Cemetery you can do either a vault burial (casket in a cement box)  or a
green burial (no embalming and no vault).

A cremation burial requires a cremation certificate, and if possible, a death certificate.  The paperwork and the grave fee must be given to the cemetery office before the grave is dug.  A funeral home does not need to be present for a cremation burial.  Please note the cemetery does not provide any type of ceremonial accompaniments for the ceremony besides a small implement to scoop earth.

Saturday burials are scheduled so the funeral will be finished by noon.  Weekdays Burials are scheduled no later than 1 PM.

At times in the spring [mud season] or in extreme rainy periods burials may have to be rescheduled due to some areas in the cemetery being inaccessible.
